Remembering Your Maintenance Staff
by Robin Fowler

When the holidays roll around, you no doubt try to remember all of the people in your life, and show them some token of your love and appreciation. If you are a vacation rental owner, this consideration should extend to those that help keep your property clean and in good working order: your cleaning person and regular maintenance professionals. These individuals, after all, play a major role in making your vacation rental business a success!

Your cleaning person can be one of the most important allies you have in your vacation rental business. He or she is the eyes and ears of your property and the physical presence in your absence. And after working so hard all year to keep your rental property clean and well-stocked, as well as making sure any repairs or service that need to be performed are reported and handled in a timely manner, it is very important to remember him or her at this time of year. Plus, if you have regular maintenance people that make repairs around your place for you, you should definitely remember them as well!

When it comes to remembering your cleaning and maintenance people at the holidays, small gestures can be very big. It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to show that you care and appreciate what they do for you. Gift cards or cash gifts are always nice. Or, you can have small gift baskets sent to them, or even left at the property for the cleaning person to find. A gift basket can include goodies like chocolates, candies, and cookies. You can also include lotions, flowers, or other small, personalized gifts for your cleaning or maintenance person. If you are too far away to deliver it yourself, call a local florist or gift shop to have one delivered directly to your property or to the person’s home. This gesture will be greatly appreciated!
