Making the
Most of Your VLBO Listing
by Robin
Fowler
Your listing on
VLBO.com should provide an accurate and attractive
picture of your vacation rental for potential renters.
Don’t let inaccuracies and dated information ruin your
chances of attracting renters!
On VLBO.com, we provide you with an easy template to
follow when you list your vacation rental properties
with us. And when you take the time to put up a great
listing, it will show in the amount of inquiries you
get. But, if you don’t include all of the basic
information and then some, if you include incorrect
information, or you don’t update changes to your
vacation rental listing when needed, you might find your
listing to be a big waste of time. You might have the
best vacation rental on the block, but if potential
customers can’t see that in your listing, they won’t
want to rent it!
For your vacation rental listing on VLBO.com, it is very
important that all of your contact information is
correct and up to date. This includes a contact name, a
phone number, a URL for your property’s website (if
applicable), and even a current email address. If any of
this information changes, make the changes on VLBO.com
as soon as possible. Incorrect phone numbers or
addresses could mean missed rental opportunities!
Make sure that you have filled in all of the information
boxes that are applicable to your vacation rental. This
includes:
• A detailed paragraph or two about your property that
discusses the features (number of bedrooms and
bathrooms) and any extras the property boasts
• Location of the vacation rental
• The accommodations (number of bedrooms, size of house
or condo, etc.)
• Address of the property
You also want to utilize the “listed property” option of
the listing that lists the appliances included in your
vacation rental, property features and amenities (deck,
hot tub, pool table, etc,), and attractions (fishing,
waterskiing, snowshoeing, etc.). The more “extras” that
you can include, the more attractive (and worth the
rental price) your vacation rental will be to potential
renters!
Also include the rental rates, rental details (check in
and check out times), payment options that you accept,
deposits, fees, taxes, and information about the
required length of stay. If at any time any of this
information changes, make sure those changes are
reflected on your VLBO.com listing ASAP!
Don’t forget to show off your property! Pictures are
vital to your VLBO.com listing! Pictures not only
showcase the strengths of your vacation rental, but they
give potential renters a sense of space within the
vacation rental, so that they can determine if your
property will meet their specific needs.
The quality of your listing on VLBO.com can make or
break your vacation rental business. Don’t let all of
your hard work be for naught by posting inaccurate or
outdated information.
