Location, Location, Location
The Fairplay Chalet is located between Fairplay and Alma in the Valley of the Sun at 11,100 feet in elevation. Off the beaten path for a true peaceful mountain experience, yet close to mountain amenities. It is approximately one and half hours from Colorado Springs and Denver, 23 miles to Breckenridge, and about 35 miles to Buena Vista.
Hiking/Snowshoeing/Four-Wheeling/Snowmobiling/Crosscountry Skiing/Biking
14ers - Mt. Lincoln, Democrat, Bross, Cameron and Sherman bases are all within 10-15 minutes away as well as Mt. Silverheels, Buckskin Gulch, Kite Lake, Bristlecone Pine Scenic area and many other trails. Mosquito Pass, Breakneck, Brown's and Westin Passes offer challenging motorized sport trails and are within easy driving distance.
Skiing
Breckenridge ski resort is 23 miles away. Eight other ski resorts ranging from world class to small family friendly resorts are within a 45 minute-1.5 hour drive. (Beaver Creek, Vail, Loveland, Keystone, Copper Mountain, A-Basin, Monarch and Ski Cooper)
Fishing
Excellent fishing can be found nearby at many rivers and streams including the middle fork of the South Platte that runs through Valley of the Sun just minutes from the cabin. Other locations include, Montgomery Reservoir, Fairplay Beach, Antero Reservoir, Jefferson Lake, Terryall, Dillon Reservoir, Spinney and Eleven Mile.
Rafting/Kayaking
Incredible white water rafting can be found on the Arkansas River in Buena Vista (35 miles) and Salida (50 miles) or in Breckenridge offering trips on five rivers.
Fairplay
Quaint town with several summer festivals, the Fairplay Fitness Center, South Park City Museum, bowling alley, grocery store, mountain shops and casual dining.
Alma
Funky offbeat mountain town featuring music festivals, shops and a couple of bars/restaurants.
Buena Vista
Art galleries, restaurants, shops, hiking, fishing, hot springs, rafting, kayaking
Summit County
The towns of Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne and Keystone are all within a 30-55 minute drive offering fine dining, mountain shops, and all of the above mentioned outdoor activities.
